Tricia Rissmann began her journey in visual and commercial arts as an interior designer, and views her transformation to a painter as a natural extension of her career. She understands the power of color relationships to express and evoke emotion. She is also highly attuned to space and proportion, playing often with asymmetry and compositional balance. Her paintings are inspired by her dreams and by the music she listens to, and often contain passages of writing. Her multi-layered creative process hides words while revealing others, thus abstracting concrete definitions and inviting multiple interpretations, depending on which words and color associations the viewer directs their attention to.
Tricia Rissmann received her BA in Design from the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design in San Francisco. She pursued her career as an interior designer for over twenty years before becoming a full-time studio artist ten years ago. In 2014 she was spotlighted in Mojo Junction: A Creative Collective Magazine and has been featured in the 2015 and 2016 American Collectors Books. She currently divides her time between Oakland and the Sierra Foothills.
