Inspired by the human figure and natural elements, Cynthia Fusillo’s, style of “Body Works” encompass the process of creation with human experience. Sheets of layered natural paper that has been drawn, sewed, waxed, and burned combined with natural materials such as leaves, sand, dirt, and flowers are used to create uniquely designed figures. These visual poems through the process of layering and color and image allow the viewer to dive deeper into familiar meanings to language while challenging them to new imaginings.

Fusillo has a Master of Fine Art and Psychology and has been living in Barcelona, Spain for the past five years where she has shown in several galleries and the Museum of Sabadell. Fusillo lived most of her life in New York where she received two grants from The Artists’ Space and exhibited at The Drawing Center, A.I.R. Gallery, The Queens Museum, and Bronx Museum of Fine Arts.

Currently exhibited throughout the United States and Europe, her work has included textile design, paintings, installations, and monoprints. Her new series exemplify her fascination with the written word, patterns and images to water and nature.
